AMBAR BHATTACHARYYA |Managing director
Ambar joined Maverick in 2015. Prior to Maverick, he was a vice president at Bessemer Venture Partners. Previously, Ambar served as assistant to the CEO at MinuteClinic (acquired by CVS) and worked at Bain Capital Ventures and Bain & Company. Ambar holds an M.B.A. with distinction from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in economics and a B.A. in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. Ambar currently sits on the boards of several of our healthcare companies. He serves as an advisor to the California Healthcare Foundation Innovation Fund. Ambar has been recognized as one of Business Insider’s “40 under 40” in healthcare and one of San Francisco Business Times’ “40 under 40” award winners. Ambar lives in San Francisco with his wife and son.

Matthew Kinsella | Managing Director
Matt joined Maverick in 2005 and was responsible for the public software investment effort from 2008 to 2014, with a particular focus on software-as-a-service. In 2014 he began focusing full-time on Maverick’s private investment efforts. He currently serves on the boards of private companies in the fields of SAAS, mobile commerce and healthcare. Matt received his B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame (summa cum laude, Hamilton Award recipient). He serves as Chairman of Maverick Capital Foundation's San Francisco Board and sits on the board of CollegeSpring.

David B. Singer | Managing Partner
David joined Maverick in 2004 and has led Maverick’s private investments since that time. Maverick Ventures was established in 2015. Prior to Maverick, David was the founding CEO of three companies: Affymetrix; Corcept Therapeutics; and Genesoft Pharmaceuticals, the latter two in which Maverick invested. David currently serves on the boards of private companies in healthcare and software-driven marketplace businesses, and two public companies, OneMedical and Castlight Health. During his career, David has served on the boards of 19 private companies including six that became public companies during his service. David received a B.A. from Yale University and an M.B.A. from Stanford University. He was a Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Rand Corporation’s Health Advisory Board. He currently is Vice Chair of College Track and was formerly Vice President of the San Francisco Health Commission. He lives in San Francisco with his wife Diana Kapp, and their three kids.

Suzanne Guthrie | Managing Director
Suzanne serves as Chief Financial Officer of Maverick Ventures. She joined Maverick in 2003 as a leader of Maverick’s Hedge Fund Accounting team, with oversight of trade operations, valuation, fund accounting, and financial and performance reporting, including a particular focus on Maverick’s private investing efforts. Prior to Maverick, she was with Ernst & Young specializing as an auditor of hedge fund and broker-dealer clients. Suzanne is a Certified Public Accountant and received her M.S.A. and B.B.A. in Accounting from Texas Tech University (magna cum laude). She serves on Maverick Capital Foundation's Dallas Board.

Prateesh Maheshwari | Senior Associate
Prateesh joined Maverick in 2018. Prior to Maverick, he was an early employee and the Director of Finance & Strategy at Oscar Health, a startup health insurer. Prior to Maverick, he worked at Bain Capital Credit. Prateesh holds an M.B.A. with distinction from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania (summa cum laude).

Ginessa Avila | Assistant general counsel
Prior to joining Maverick in 2005, Ginessa was an Associate at the legal firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP. She received her B.S. with high honors from The University of Texas at Austin, and her J.D. from the University of Michigan. Ms. Avila is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association.

Chris GOLZ | Senior Associate
Chris joined Maverick in 2016 and leads the valuation and operational efforts for Maverick Ventures. Prior to Maverick, he worked in transaction services specializing in both buy and sell-side diligence and business consolidations. Chris graduated with honors from the University of Texas in Austin receiving his B.B.A. and M.P.A in accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Valuation Analyst, and serves as Chairman of the Dallas Board for Maverick Capital Foundation.

Lee chairs Maverick’s Advisory and Portfolio Management Committees, as well as the Investment Committees of Quantitative Strategies, Ventures and Stable. Before founding Maverick in 1993, Mr. Ainslie was a Managing Director of Tiger Management. Mr. Ainslie serves on the boards of the Robin Hood Foundation, the New York-Presbyterian Hospital, the University of Virginia's Jefferson Scholars Foundation, the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia, and on the Executive Committee of the Partnership for New York City. Mr. Ainslie received a B.S. in systems engineering from the University of Virginia (Westmoreland Davis Scholar and Thomas Pinckney Bryan Jr. Scholar) and an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina (Beta Gamma Sigma). Mr. Ainslie and his wife, Elizabeth, have two sons.

Andrew Warford

Andrew serves as Stock Committee Chairman and is a member of the Portfolio Management Team. Prior to joining Maverick in 2003, he managed the Viking Technology Portfolio at Viking Global Investors, L.L.C.. Before Viking, Andrew was an Analyst covering technology for Tiger Management L.L.C.. Andrew received his B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame where he graduated summa cum laude. While at Notre Dame, Andrew was Tennis Team Captain, an ITA Scholar All-American and received the Knute Rockne Award. Additionally, he played professional tennis for two summers.

Riad Abrahams

In his position as Maverick Capital’s Chief Strategist, Riad sits on the Portfolio Management Committee and Stock Committee of the firm. He first joined Maverick in 2003 and was a member of the Consumer team before becoming Chief Strategist. Prior to that, he was an Analyst in the Principal Investment Group at The Blackstone Group. Riad rejoined Maverick in 2009 after serving as Managing Partner of BlackSwan Partners for almost three years.  Riad serves on the boards of private companies in the eCommerce field.  Riad received both his A.B. (cum laude) and his M.B.A. from Harvard University.

Michael Beckwith

Michael leads Maverick’s efforts in industrial investments.  He rejoined Maverick in 2009 after serving as the Portfolio Manager of Sequoia Capital Global Equities in 2008.  Michael originally joined Maverick in 2004 after serving as a Senior Vice President at Andor Capital Management where he oversaw their software, internet and IT services investment efforts.  Before joining Andor, Michael was a Senior Research Analyst at Robertson Stephens covering infrastructure software.  He received a J.D. (cum laude) from Harvard Law School, and he received his B.A. (summa cum laude) from Middlebury College.

Christopher Gaulin

Christopher leads Maverick’s effort in healthcare investments. He joined Maverick in 2003 after serving as a Senior Analyst in the food sector for J.P. Morgan Chase & Company. While at J.P. Morgan, he was voted a 2003 Next Generation Analyst by Institutional Investor. Previously, he was an Associate at Lehman Brothers, and served as an Analyst at both ShareMax and J.P. Morgan & Co. Christopher received his B.S. from Boston College.

Steven Kapp

Steven was the Sector Head of Maverick’s public equity efforts in healthcare from 1997 to 2008. Currently he serves on the Private Investment Committee. Steven has served on the boards of several private portfolio companies. Prior to Maverick, he was a founding partner of Longwood Partners, a hedge fund based in Philadelphia. Prior to Longwood, Steven was an Officer in Corporate Development at Airgas where his principal responsibility was the analysis of public and private investment opportunities for the company, both in its core industrial gas business and in a variety of unrelated businesses for diversification purposes. He earned a B.A. in Economics and an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina.
